How does a polarized lens reduce glare?

Spy's Trident Polarized lenses incorporate a special film inside the lens. As sunlight hits a shiny surface like water, snow or pavement it reflects or bounces back toward your eyes at a consistent angle, therefore creating glare. The polarized film in our Trident lenses blocks this reflective light to reduce glare by over 99%. Spy's Trident polarized lenses are excellent for water and snow sports as well as daily driving.

How should I clean my goggles/glasses?

Goggle care: Special care is required for optimum performance. When the inner lens surface gets wet it becomes soft and is very susceptible to scratching. Do not rub the lens when this happens. Blot the lens with a soft cloth to remove the moisture or allow to air dry. When the lens has been thoroughly dried at room temperature, you may then gently polish it with a soft cloth to remove any smudges. The inner and outer side of the lens should generally be cleaned with tap water only. Rinse and follow the instructions above for drying.

Sunglasses: Rinse the lens with tap water gently to remove any dirt or loose objects from the lens. Blot the lens dry with a soft cloth and gently polish to remove any smudges. Rubbing alcohol can also be used to clean the lens. Be careful not to get excessive alcohol on the frame paint.

What ANSI rating do Spy sunglasses have?

All of our lenses, in both goggles and sunglasses, meet and exceed the ANSI Z80.3 standard.

What color lenses are best for specific conditions?

Spy has a wide range of lenses for every condition imaginable. In general, the best all around sunglass lenses are gray or bronze. Gray has the truest color while bronze enhances colors and offers outstanding definition and depth perception. In low light conditions (overcast, snowing), lens colors such as clear, persimmon (orange), yellow and rose are the best. We also offer mirrored lenses that are best for the brightest conditions.

What is ARC technology?

All of our high wrap frames use our ARC lenses. ARC stands for Accurate Radius Curvature. The lens is thicker at the optical center and thins out toward the edges of the lens. We use this technology because when light waves from the sun hit an aggressively curved standard sunglass lens, the light refracts causing distortion, which reduces optical clarity, causing distorted vision and/or headaches. Spy's ARC lenses overcome this potentially dangerous problem by tapering the thickness of the lens towards the outer edge, thus allowing light waves to be delivered to the eye with no refraction or distortion. This results in unprecedented optical clarity.

What is Scoop technology?

Scoop technology virtually eliminates fogging by forcing air through the Scoop vents as you move forward by creating a Venturi effect, thus drawing warm humid air out from behind the lens. This system works so well that we have protected it with 5 U.S. Patents.

What is the difference between spherical (Orbit, Soldier) and cylindrical (Blizzard, Scoop, Comet, Targa) goggles?

Spy's spherical goggle lenses incorporate our ARC technology.

Our cylindrical lenses are thermoformed. The result is a very clear lens for a reasonable price.

All of our snow goggle lenses come standard with anti-fog and scratch resistant coatings.

Which SPY goggles can be used with helmets?

The Orbit, Soldier, Blizzard, Targa, and Comet are all helmet compatible.
